Speaking

Talks for meetings and study clubs.

Clinical and practice-management sessions from someone who is still in the operatory and the OR. Each talk is written to CE learning-objective standards and can run 60 to 180 minutes.

  1. 1

The medically complex patient in the general practice

Who you can safely treat in the chair, who belongs in the OR, and how to tell the difference before the appointment rather than during it. Cardiac, endocrine, bleeding, transplant and syndromic patients; the medical consult that actually gets answered; documentation that protects everyone.

Objectives. Apply a go/no-go framework for medically compromised patients; write a physician consult that returns a usable answer; identify the five history items most often missed.

  2. 2

Building a sedation and special-needs program that lasts

Permits, privileges, staffing, monitoring, rescue readiness, caregivers, consent, and the schedule. The program as a system, from a dentist who built one and runs it.

Objectives. Map the permit and privileging path in your state; design a special-needs visit workflow; build a rescue-drill calendar the team will keep.

  3. 3

Why sedation cases end up in front of the board

The recurring patterns behind public disciplinary actions, drawn as composites. None of them began with a drug choice.

Objectives. Recognize the pre-appointment failures that precede most adverse events; audit your own monitoring and documentation against them.

  4. 4

    The practice as a system

For owners. Why collections, scheduling, and hiring are one problem, and how to run the back office on systems rather than on the owner's evenings.

Objectives. Separate the three numbers that predict practice cash; identify which back-office functions should leave the building first.

For organizers

Formats: keynote, breakout, half-day workshop, study club dinner.
